basketball addict! Guilty!

How it started?...well I think I'm going to blame my tito's for it...hahaha...
When I was about 9 or 10 maybe...my tito's with their barkada used to watch NBA with d ultimate IDOL M. Jordan while my lola used to scold them coz she's going to miss her favorite sunday show of Sharon Cuneta. I usually sneak on those times and wonder why is it my tito's and their barkada's are shouting, jumping and laughing in front of the television. Then I became a fan of basketball-NBA with Chicago Bulls coz of Jordan and PBA with SMB(my tito's fave team). One time I saw one of my tito watching PBA alone, so I sat beside him to cheer too but to my dismay I ended being scolded by him coz I need to study for my lessons.

I thought basketball was an issue only in our home but it proves me wrong. In school, I overheard my classmates (boys) regrding the game in PBA finals between Alaska vs SMB. They mimic the commentators regrding the highlighted plays. It caught my attention coz indeed I am a fan. From that time on I used to stand out for my SMB team with my classmates. I'm part of the discussion regarding the playoffs coz with that I stand out with my Tito too with their fave team SMB.

During my highschool years, I really wanted to play basketball in my school but then I was diagnosed with RHD(Rheumatic heart Disease) which disapproved to do any strenous physical activities. But it does'nt stop me for liking basketball though at those times I'm kinda busy with my studies coz I'm fighting for the top seat in the honor roll.

Here comes my college days, I remember I was involved in a girly fight because of basketball...lol! I'm not ashame of it! In fact I usually boast it to my friends. I will start spelling the story by saying I'm a weird girl when it comes to studying. I usually study my lesson in front of the television. I grasp what I'm studying as well as understand what I'm watching. Well it works for me coz when I graduated in high school I grab the top seat. By that time I'm alone in the sala of my dormitory so I turned on the television to watch PBA with SMB vs Redbull if I'm not mistaken Finals. During the break, I went to my room to get some study paraphernalias. When I went back to the sala, the girl maintenace of the dormitory switch it to other channel to watch "PANGAKO SA IYO" teleserye. Then I told her, "ate nanonod po kasi ako ng PBA, ibalik ko lang ha." which she replied, "huwag! diba nag-aaral ka pumasok ka na lang sa room mo." I explained it to her " ate I can't study without the TV on at isa pa finals ngayon ng PBA." She did'nt replied instead she grabbed the remote control. I'm kinda pissed off by that time my PBA and Study mood was disarray. So I went to the television and manually switch it back to ABC 5 (by that time PBA was aired)but then I told her, "pasencya na ate ha."(while doing the act). She stood in front of me and shouted something bad.I was stunned, I'm not that kind of girl who would shout back in a verbal girly fight. I just stand there trying to grab bad words to punch her back too but then it's not me. Maybe because I'm raised by my parents to respect the elders by not raising your voice on them. All of a sudden I'm hyperventillating! Something inside me wanted to explode but it can't. Instead tears welled up my eyes. Then I realised I can't breathed! I'm out of oxygen...Then that Ate panicked she shouted help coz of that. Other girls with same medical courses with me came into rescue. A cup of water and simple breath in and out relieved me. A scene of guilty face manifested on her as she apologised on me. She went back to her room and was contented with the busted volume of their TV provided by the Owner. I was upset though coz SMB did'nt won and I'm kinda exhausted that I ended up sleeping instead of having finishing touches on my studies. waahhh...well just an add on note: The Owner of the dormitory apologised to me too and even gave me a free lunch by that time. What an experience isn't it!

Still during my College Era:
I usually grab a seat on the television in one of my boarding houses just to watch it. I don't know if it goes with luck but my landlady favored my way. Maybe your asking why I did'nt buy my own television instead. Well it is because I'm a practical person I usually hopped on Bhaus and dormitory before just to have a cheapest rental rates to help my parents with their expenses and besides free television use was provided along with the rental agreement. I never forget that I first love UAAP with BJ MANALO and WESLEY GONZALES. Though I ca'nt say that I'm into them by that time coz I need to concentrate on my studies too.

The reason I love #SPURS (SAN ANTONIO). One time, I went to a nearby carenderia to grab my lunch when I noticed that the crowd was so high in cheering the NBA game. Mostly they give their around of applause on the opponent of #SPURS by that time. The fan on me with basketball got pitied on the less cheered team. I was sad that in silent I prayed for the #SPURS to win. Luckilly, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Bruce Bowen and big Bob and ofcourse Manu Ginobli responded on it with a good ball movement combined with defense and good set-up offense. From that time on I admired the coaching skill of Coach Popovich. Other than Jordan's influences, I'm back with my NBA coz of this team and until now I'm still cheering with them...with my wishful thinking to see them in personal upclose ofcourse watching their games.

SMB FOREVER. Whenever I missed PBA games or even one conference absentism. lol! I usually bragged that my team is SMB whoever the players are coz of the influences my tito's way back. But then I agree with them coz in my time I love coach Uichico and players: Danny S., Danny I, Don2 H., Rara-Racela and the rest of the team...

The ATENEO BLUE EAGLES ONE BIG FIGHT. Yes! with UAAP I'm cheering with them though I'm not a blueblooded basketball fan. Watching their games caught my fanatic mind coz of their disciplined system. I love them from Eagles- Eaglets. Players like Wesley Gonzales, Fonacier, La Tenorio,JC Intal, Rich Alvarez, Magnum Membrere, P. Bugia, Villanueva,Baclao, Jai Reyes, Eric Salamat, Keiffer Ravena and ofcourse Chris Tiu and more...

ADMU 17...Funny, I usually put this on my phonebook along with my personal number...Yes! I am a TIUNATIC...lol!... I remembered when were having fun moments with my friends Cha and Payat coz we are rooting for the ADMU squad. I knew Cha by that time favored Larry Fonacier more while me and Payat obviuosly love Jersey #17. We cheered for them even while reviewing for the Nurses Liscensure Exam. During my review days also for NLE I was able to grab a partime job of tutorial to Ateneo Davao Kids. I won't forget the times I usually gave lame excuses to my students whenever I'm late coz of the ADMU games(I'm pissed off with OT period). Even if my partime workload increases with 4 students to attend from 5pm-9pm plus the fact that I had a caregiver job to a lung Cancer patient(father of a friend) from 10pm-12mn along with my my morning review classes, I still find time to know UAAP ranking...thanks to the internet though got no time watching it. Sad to say, I am not updated with PBA by that time or maybe MBA by that time. One more thing, when I got my first job as a Nurse,I usually sneaked on the vacant rooms just to watch UAAP during my afernoon shifts. Well I'm honest! I do prioritised my patients first. lol!
Just recently, during my vacation in the Philippines( coz now I am an OFW working here in KSA) I was lucky enough to grab a photo moment with my #17 jersey idol Chris TIU plus a bonus handshake with him. Honestly, this is my first personal meeting with him. Indeed it is such a good experience. This what made me say over and over again during the game between Alaska- "ANG GWAPO GWAPO NIYA TALAGA." LOL! I'm 2-3 year older than him but I can't help myself...Majority would agree! You can't blame me...hahaha. Actually when I'm in Metro Manila specifically in QC working in NKTI as a nurse for at least 4 years, I never had a chance to meet him. Maybe because by that time he is not part of PBA and was spending more on the National Team. Those times I met and admired the bball skill of Cyrus Baguio. That is why during their game last March 4, 2011...I was half cheering for both of them...really! By that time when SMART GILAS Lead in the last seconds of the 4th quarter...I prayed overtime...then I realised I mouthed it loud...hahaha...it came true when LA gave his liutenant show! I even jumped off my seat with glee for both of them...hhahha. During the overtime period I stopped cheering and just let the story unfold..so SMART GILAS TEAM won...realization knocked off my being: If ever Alaska won, maybe I do'nt have a chance for that beautiful photocapades....hahaha

RB#8 then...now ACES# 3...yes I'm a fan of SKYRUS Baguio acrobatic moves...I'm a laidback when it comes of knowing Cyrus B. Why? because I only knew him when I first stepped on Araneta Coliseum to watch PBA. I did'nt knew he was a basketball star in UST tigers before. Actually I bought my first ticket in Araneta just to watch SMB. At that time they play in the first game, He was wearing jersey #8 in the Redbull Squad, sorry to say I forgot their opponent. I cheered for their team coz of familiar faces of ADMU players were there like Rich Alvarez, Larry Fonacier, Paulo Bugia and Magnum Membrere. But he caught my attention when he maneuvered those crazy, unbelievable lay-ups and ankle breaker moves. Curiosity bites in so I used internet to know him. From that time on I cheered for him with his uprising image in the PBA. I even chose him over my long time fave SMB to win in a game. I stood up with the amazing crowd of Ginebra during play-offs and was lucky to go home with a "W" smile on my face over them. I also had a chance of having my photo moment with him but then it is'nt look nice coz really he is taller than me. I begun hopping teams in PBA when he was wearing different jersey from Redbull, Burger King, Brgy Ginebra and now Alaska Aces. Days ago, I was really stunned or may I say caught off guard...when I saw him in SM the Block off his jersey ACES #3 one day prior my flight back to KSA. He was with his GF by then...I just looked at him, I don't intent to grab a photo with him coz I knew that is the only time their having private moments wit their loveones. I'm just happy that for the first time I saw him in a venue aside from Araneta Coliseum and Cuneta Astrodome.

My basketball interest was kinda weird coz first and foremost I'm a girl then Im in the early adulthood now. Well all I can say it is one of my happiness. That is why I'm in cloud 9 when my all time crush posted on his FB account a basketball photo portraying him shooting it on a ring with an exagerating reach out to the basket...lol...It gave me so much joy also when I learned that my younger brother love playing it as pointguard coz of me...Well2 it does'nt stop me there. I would always cheer for the hoops with ohhs and ahhss whenever a difficult shot was made...Till then...see u in the next game...
